The program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of food production processes and is characterized by:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>strong integration between\u00a0<strong>chemical, mechanical, and management engineering<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a\u00a0<strong>project-based, innovation-oriented approach<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>also supported by:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>structured collaborations with\u00a0<strong>leading companies in the sector<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>an\u00a0<strong>international and interdisciplinary environment<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The Master aims to train graduates who are able to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>solve complex problems across the\u00a0<strong>food and beverage value chain<\/strong>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>innovate products, processes, and organizational models;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>integrate technical analysis with a\u00a0<strong>managerial perspective<\/strong>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>operate effectively in\u00a0<strong>international contexts<\/strong>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>assess the\u00a0<strong>environmental, economic, and social impacts<\/strong>\u00a0of industrial decisions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Programme structure<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The program consists of <strong>120 ECTS credits<\/strong>, including <strong>95 ECTS<\/strong> of compulsory courses, <strong>10 ECTS<\/strong> of elective activitieThe program consists of&nbsp;<strong>120 ECTS credits<\/strong>, including&nbsp;<strong>95 ECTS<\/strong>&nbsp;of compulsory courses,&nbsp;<strong>10 ECTS<\/strong>&nbsp;of elective activities, and&nbsp;<strong>15 ECTS<\/strong>&nbsp;dedicated to the Master\u2019s thesis. The curriculum is structured over&nbsp;<strong>four semesters<\/strong>&nbsp;and provides a solid multidisciplinary education tailored to the challenges of the modern agri-food sector. In addition to technical aspects related to products and processes, the program also addresses cross-cutting topics such as sustainability, industrial management, food safety and innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the <strong>first semester<\/strong>, students are introduced to Food Engineering through core courses in food chemistry, food technology and product properties. The aim is to provide a clear overview of the sector and its key challenges.<br>The <strong>second semester<\/strong> then shifts the focus to\u00a0<strong>management and operations<\/strong>, covering topics such as quality management, logistics, production planning and procurement, with particular attention to the specific characteristics of the food industry.<br>Moving to the <strong>third semester<\/strong>, the teaching approach becomes more\u00a0<strong>interactive and industry-oriented<\/strong>, including seminars with companies, group work and workshops. Students will gain gain an in-depth understanding of the entire food supply chain, with a focus on product development, process efficiency and environmental sustainability. <br>The <strong>fourth<\/strong> and final <strong>semester<\/strong> is dedicated to\u00a0<strong>practical experience <\/strong>and to the completion of the Master. Students may carry out an internship in a company and work on their\u00a0<strong>Master\u2019s thesis<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students are also required to complete&nbsp;<strong>10 ECTS <\/strong>of elective activities, which can be obtained by:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>completing a\u00a0<strong>5 ECTS internship<\/strong>, or<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>selecting one or more <strong>elective courses<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Elective courses are organized into the following thematic areas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Food Industry Processes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Food Industry Management<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Food Industry 4.0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>META-IUS<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Green technologies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This flexibility allows students to tailor their academic path to their&nbsp;career goals and personal interests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>An Experience-Oriented Teaching Model<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The MSc in Food Engineering adopts a teaching model that integrates multiple learning approaches:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>lectures<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>interactive activities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>laboratory sessions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>mandatory and optional project work<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>use of professional software (Excel, Python, data analysis and modelling tools)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>seminars with industry experts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>visits to production plants<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The first semester already includes a strong&nbsp;<strong>project-based component<\/strong>, highlighting the applied nature of the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Trends in Food Industry Lab<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong>Trends in Food Industry Lab<\/strong>, offered during the second year, is one of the distinctive courses of the Master. It is entirely based on&nbsp;<strong>real projects developed in collaboration with partner companies<\/strong>.
